Agu Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Agu, a baby tracking app developed by AppForTech (“the App”), handles your information. In short: the App does not collect any personal data, does not send your records to any server and does not share them with anyone. Everything you enter stays on your own device. The only network connection the App makes is for an optional in-app purchase, handled by Google Play or the App Store.
1. Information you enter
While using the App you may enter:
- your baby's name and, optionally, date of birth, due date, sex, country and a profile photo,
- sleep, breastfeeding, bottle, diaper, pumping, medication, growth (weight, length, head circumference), temperature and tooth eruption records, and optional photos on diaper records,
- vaccination records, doctor/vaccination appointments, feeding and medicine reminders, and notes.
This information may include health-related data about your baby. All of it is stored in a local database (SQLite) on your device. A profile photo is resized to 512 pixels and saved without its location and other metadata (Exif). A diaper photo is resized so its longer side is 1280 pixels; only the orientation needed to display it upright is kept, and its location and other metadata are removed.
2. Data collected and shared
- There is no account, registration or sign-in.
- There is no server, cloud backup or sync of our own; your records are never sent over the internet.
- In-app purchase (optional): the App offers an optional one-time purchase. To show its price, complete the purchase and restore it, the store's billing service (Google Play Billing on Android, the App Store on iPhone) connects to Google or Apple; this is the only reason the Android app has internet access. Payment and the related information are processed by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies, and Google Play Billing may send technical information about the purchase process to Google. AppForTech does not receive your payment details or any personal data, and your baby's records are never part of this connection.
- Backup file: if you back up your data in the App, a single file (JSON, not encrypted) containing your records, photos, reminders and settings is saved to a location you choose. Keep it somewhere safe; anyone who has the file can read it. AppForTech never receives it.
- Sharing: if you create a report or export file and share it, it goes only to the app or person you choose.
- If your phone's own backup is turned on (Google backup on Android, iCloud backup on iPhone), the operating system may back up the App's data, encrypted, to your own account along with your other apps. That backup is subject to Google's or Apple's terms; AppForTech cannot access it. You can turn backup off in your phone's settings.
- The App itself uses no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking tools.
- Data is never sold, transferred or shared with third parties. AppForTech cannot access it.
3. Permissions and why they are used
- Notifications: to show running timers (sleep, breastfeeding, pumping) in a notification and to deliver vaccination, appointment, feeding and medicine reminders. On Android 16 and later the running timer may appear as a promoted “Live Update” in the status bar and on the lock screen.
- Alarms & reminders (exact alarms): so reminders arrive on time. Without it, reminders may be delayed by a few minutes.
- Run at startup and background work: to restore scheduled reminders after the phone restarts and, on Android, to keep upcoming reminders scheduled every few hours even if you don't open the App. This work runs only on your device.
- Vibration: for notification vibration.
- Calendar (optional): requested only if you turn on calendar sync in the Appointments section. The App only writes, updates and deletes the appointment events it created itself in the calendar you choose; it does not touch your other events and never sends them anywhere. You can turn sync off at any time.
- Camera and photos (optional): used only when you add a profile photo or a diaper photo. On Android the App uses the system camera or photo picker, so no permission is requested; on iPhone you are asked for camera or photo library access.
- In-app purchases and network access (Android): used only by Google Play Billing for the optional purchase described above.
If you add the home screen widget, your baby's name and last feed are shown on your home screen, where anyone who sees your phone can read them. You can revoke permissions and remove widgets at any time in your phone's settings.
4. External links
The “Privacy policy” and “Website” links in Settings open in your browser, and “Send feedback” opens your email app. The App may occasionally show the store's own rating dialog; a rating or review you leave there goes to Google or Apple. Those apps, stores and websites are subject to their own privacy terms. If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
5. Retention and deletion
Data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual records within the App, and delete all data permanently by uninstalling the App or clearing its data in your phone's settings. If you have no backup, uninstalling the App or losing your phone means the records are lost. You can restore them on a new phone from a backup file you created in the App, or from your phone's own backup if it is on. Backup files stay where you saved them until you delete them, and appointment events written to your calendar may remain in your calendar app.
6. Children's privacy
The App is designed for parents and caregivers. Information about children is stored only on your device and is not collected by AppForTech.
7. Medical disclaimer
Agu is a logging and reminder tool; it does not provide diagnosis, treatment or medical advice. The vaccination schedules, the development guide, leap periods and WHO growth percentiles are for general information only; every baby develops at their own pace, and your family doctor's and pediatrician's advice takes precedence. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always published on this page with an updated effective date.
